Two Capoeira festivals in one weekend! |

There are going to be two great Capoeira events in just one weekend at the beginning of March. You are free to decide to travel up to the north in Copenhagen, Denmark, or down to the south in Lyon, France.
Both events are realized within a big festival week so if you have the time you should take the opportunity and be there a few days earlier for some great cultural experiences.
 EVENT I
Dans le cadre du Festival BRASILYON: Cultura & Capoeira 2010.
La Rencontre Batizado Gingando Senzala aura lieu les samedi 6 et dimanche 7 mars 2010. Avec Mestre Sorriso et Mestre Paulo Siqueira, ainsi que divers contra-mestres et professeurs. OUVERT À TOUS.
 Le baptême ou Batizado et les changements de cordes des élèves aura lieu dimanche a 16h00. Lieu : gymnase de la Ficelle, Lyon 4ème, métro Hénon POUR VOUS INSCRIRE, vous pouvez télécharger la Programmation BrasiLyon et nous renvoyer le coupon-réponse.

 EVENT II
The second big event that we want to inform you about is the northern one in the lovely city of Copenhagenin Denmark. It's the 5th Capoeira Meeting what is a celebration of Afro-Brazilian culture covering a wide range of cultural expressions: Dance, music, percussion visual and physical expression etc.
Offering some great classes in Coco, Jongo, Maculele, Tambor de Crioula, Afro dance, Samba dance, Brazilian rhythms and percussion you can guess that these will be some great rythem days up there. Organized by Dino, Jiló and Sagui will bring a handfull of great mestres together. At the moment these are checked in: M. Camaleao (Filhos de Angola), M. Pantera (Cordao de Ouro) and much more.

 Congratulations to the 30 year celebration of Capoeira Angola Pelourinho in Salvador, Brazil. And at the same time all the best and congratulations to Mestre Pedro Moraes who celebrates his 60th anniversary last week.
Um grande abraco e parabens ao grupo Angola Pelourinho de Salvador do Bahia que celbraram seus 30 anos de existencia. Ao mesmo tempo serão festejados os 60 anos de Pedro Moraes Trindade conhecido por Mestre Moraes, fundador do Angola Pelourinho e hoje seu principal representante.

Thanks to Sean Nicolle aka Monitor PernaLonga and Andreas Dietzel aka Monitor Ferrugem, both of Associação de Capoeira Mandingueiros dos Palmares we have been informed that there is a great article written by Greg Downey about the Capoeira Bananeira in comparison to the gymanstics handstand.
It's quite a professional view on it but you do not need to be a doctore to catch up with the one or another point about what happens to you, your body and your equilibrium while standing head over.
And all of this on the one side of the capoeiristas point of view and on the other one from a gymnastics athlete.
The only point is that the article does not mention what exactly happens to your balance once you get a cabecada :)

And another month just passed by! But we do not look back, we take a look into the future or to be more specific into this months events.
At the middle of the month there will be the Northern Light Capoeira Workshop organized by the Capoeirando Senzala Group in Stockholm. The three day event will start on the 12th of this month.
And the second event held for a weekend but later at the end of Feburary is the 6th Encontro de Inverno in Amsterdam organized by Mestre Grilo and his Escola Senzala.
Whether you travel to the north or nort-west - both events will give you great opportunities to meet the european Capoeira scene.
